Summer Flower Parade Rijnsburg in Katwijk & Noordwijk 2024

Every second Saturday in August, it is traditionally time for the summer flower parade in the Bollenstreek: The Flower Parade Rijnsburg. This splendid flower festival can be seen in the seaside resorts of Katwijk and Noordwijk, among others. This Flower Parade is also the first event of the Dahlia Festival Holland.
Summer Flower Parade
The Rijnsburg Flower Parade takes place every year on the 2nd Saturday in August and consists of 10 floats, music wagons, cars decorated with flowers and music bands. In addition, the themes on the floats are supported and depicted by more than 100 extras. Every year, this special flower parade attracts more than 350,000 visitors. This event is also successfully broadcast on national TV (Omroep MAX) every year. Flower Parade Rijnsburg distinguishes itself from other flower parades by using hundreds of different types of flowers, which are arranged by professional arrangers. The first flower parade in Rijnsburg took place in 1946. This makes the parade one of the oldest in the Netherlands.
Theme and designs Praalwagens 2024
The theme of the summer Flower Parade is ‘Typical Holland‘. This Theme is reflected in the designs of the Flower Parade’s floats. Below are the 10 designs of the 2024 floats.
Programme Summer flower parade
On Friday afternoon 11 August, you can visit the free-to-attend Flower Parade Show at Flower Auction Royal FloraHolland in Rijnsburg. Starting this year, the show opens at 4pm. An atmospheric afternoon and evening with music and lots of flowers. Here you can watch and photograph all the cars at your leisure. There are extra activities especially for the children between 16.00 and 18.30.
On Sunday 13 August, the floats can be admired all day on the Kon. Wilhelmina Boulevard in Noordwijk.
The overall programme is as follows:
- Friday 11 August: in Flower Auction Royal FloraHolland Rijnsburg the ´Flower Parade Show´(from 16.00 hrs)
- Saturday 12 August: the parade will pass through Rijnsburg, Katwijk and Noordwijk from 1pm onwards
- Sunday 13 August: the floats stand on the Kon. Wilhelmina Boulevard in Noordwijk

The route of the Summer Floral Parade
On Saturday, the Summer Floral Parade will drive from Rijnsburg to Katwijk and then on to Noordwijk. The route follows the roads below. Along the entire route, the Summer Flower Parade can be viewed free of charge.
RIJNSBURG (route 1) 13.00 uur– Laan van Verhof – Rijnsburgerweg – Oegstgeesterweg – Graaf Florislaan – Oude Vlietweg – Kerkstraat –Vliet Noordzijde – Koestraat – Noordeinde – Burgemeester Hermanstraat – Noordwijkerweg– Burgemeester Meijboomstraat – Kanaalstraat -Evertsenstraat – Witte de Withstraat – Akkerwinde– Aronskelk – Boslaan / Westerpark – Sandtlaan.
KATWIJK (route 2) 13.45 uur– Sandtlaan -Rijnstraat – Zeeweg – Koningin Julianalaan – Boslaan – Meeuwenlaan– Secretaris Varkevisserstraat (kruispunt: Schelpendam).
KATWIJK (route 3) 14.45 uur– Secr. Varkevisserstraat (kruispunt: Schelpendam) – Vuurbaakplein – Boulevard – Rijnmond– Binnensluis – Hoorneslaan.ParkeergarageBoulevard tussen 14.45 en 17.00 uur niet bereikbaar
KATWIJK (route 4) 15.15 uur– Melkweg – Steenbok – Hartweg – Noorderlicht – Hercules – Schorpioen – Biltlaan- Zwarteweg– Driehoeklaan (’s Heeren Loo). Noordwijk (route 5) 18.30 uur– Beeklaan (rotonde: Bonnikeplein / Boekerslootlaan) – Boekerslootlaan – Lindenhofstraat– Van Limburg Stirumstraat – HH Geestweg – Raadhuisstraat – Zeestraat – Nieuwe Zeeweg– Huis Ter Duinstraat – Picképlein – De Grent – Palaceplein – Kon. Wilhelmina Boulevard– Vuurtorenplein.
Directions to the Summer Floral Parade
The Summer Flower Parade passes through Rijnsburg, Katwijk and Noordwijk. These towns are centrally located in the Randstad between the cities of: Leiden, The Hague, Haarlem and Amsterdam. The parade is easy to reach by car and public transport.
