From daffodils and hyacinths in March to the tulip fields in April: see what is in bloom in the fields and at the tulip attractions, period by period. From early March you will find the live bloom status here several times a week.

Tulip season 2027 starts underground. Until the end of the year, bulbs are being planted at Keukenhof, at the other tulip attractions and in the tulip fields. Keukenhof plants its bulbs in layers, so the park is in bloom without a break from 18 March to 9 May 2027.
Are the tulip fields in bloom yet? Not yet. In our observations from 2018 to 2026, the first daffodil fields turned yellow between mid-February and mid-March, the first hyacinth fields flowered in March, and the first tulip fields came into bloom between 2 and 15 April.

Short answer: the tulip fields in the Netherlands bloom from early April to late April, with most fields in full colour in the second half of April. Before that, in March and early April, the daffodil and hyacinth fields colour the Bollenstreek yellow, blue and pink. At the tulip attractions, including Keukenhof, tulips bloom throughout the Tulip Festival: from 18 March to 9 May 2027.
Every period has its own highlights. In the early bloom the hyacinth fields fill the air with scent and the tulip attractions already show their first tulips. In the full bloom the tulip fields turn red, yellow, pink and purple. In the late bloom the late-flowering tulips at the attractions are at their best, at Keukenhof together with irises and alliums. In the commercial fields the tulips are topped as soon as they are in full bloom; at the tulip attractions they are not, so they keep flowering.

At the tulip attractions you walk among the flowers. Each attraction makes sure in its own way that something is in bloom throughout the Tulip Festival. During the season you will see the current bloom status for each attraction here.
Flower park
Keukenhof plants its bulbs in several layers, so the park is in bloom all season: from crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths in March to late tulips, irises and alliums in May. In the pavilions you can also enjoy indoor flower shows with masses of flowers.
Tulip fields, museum and picking garden
Here you stroll along paths between the tulips. Some tulips are pre-cooled or planted later, so tulips bloom all season long. There is a museum about the history of bulb growing in the Bollenstreek and an indoor picking garden: every visitor takes home a bunch of tulips.
Tulip fields and photo spots
Tulip fields laid out especially for visitors, with paths and photo spots among the flowers. Thanks to pre-cooled and later-planted tulips, the bloom here starts early and lasts long.
Family nursery with show garden and tulip fields
An authentic tulip bulb nursery and a true family business. In the show garden the daffodils bloom at the start of the season, followed by the hyacinths and tulips. The show garden and the cosy flower greenhouse are free; with a ticket you can also walk through the nursery’s own daffodil and tulip fields.
The commercial tulip fields belong to bulb growers and are not meant to be walked into. You see them best by bike, from the water or on a sightseeing tour. Many tours also stop at one or more tulip attractions, so you can still take photos among the tulips.
Crocuses are the first spring bloomers. From early March they colour verges, parks and gardens purple, white and yellow, and at Keukenhof you will see them at the opening on 18 March. Real crocus fields are rare in the Bollenstreek; you mainly see crocuses in gardens and show gardens.
The daffodil fields are the first fields to bloom. Yellow is the main colour of the Bollenstreek in March, and the yellow fields are wonderful to photograph. Daffodils bloom for a long time: you can still see yellow fields until mid-April.
You recognise hyacinths not only by their colour but also by their scent: on a sunny day you can smell the fields from afar. The first hyacinth fields bloom from mid-March; together with the daffodils they make the early bloom extra special.
The tulip fields are the most popular flower fields in the Netherlands. Their bright red, orange, yellow, pink and white attract visitors from all over the world. In the fields the first tulips flower in early April; as soon as a field is in full bloom, the growers top the flowers so the energy goes into the bulb. That does not happen at the tulip attractions: there the tulips bloom earlier and longer, from mid-March to early May.
Keukenhof is open in 2027 from 18 March to 9 May. Every year the park plants more than 7 million bulbs in layers, so something is always in bloom: first crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and early tulips, the full tulip bloom in mid-April, and late-flowering tulips, irises and alliums until the very end.
This is how the last nine seasons went in the fields, according to our weekly field reports (accuracy ± 3–7 days). At the tulip attractions the tulips kept flowering for longer every year.

There are no tulips in the Bollenstreek in summer. The dahlias do bloom, though: during the Dahlia Festival from 31 July to 10 October 2027, several dahlia show gardens are open and there are events around this versatile summer flower.
The Tulip Festival runs from 18 March to 9 May 2027, in three periods: early bloom (18 March – 14 April), full bloom (15 – 30 April) and late bloom (1 – 9 May). Every period has something beautiful in bloom.
The tulip fields in the Netherlands usually start to bloom in early April and are in full colour in the second half of April. Growers top the tulips as soon as they are in full bloom, so the best view moves from field to field. At the tulip attractions the tulips keep flowering for longer.
At the tulip attractions (Keukenhof, Tulip Experience, Tulip Barn and De Tulperij) you buy a ticket or enter for free and walk among the flowers. The commercial tulip fields belong to bulb growers: you view them from the road, by bike, from the water or on a sightseeing tour.
Tulip Experience and Tulip Barn plant some of their tulips pre-cooled or later, so they bloom early and for a long time. And at the attractions the tulips are not topped: they keep flowering until they have finished.
No, the tulip fields are working nurseries. You can walk among the tulips at Tulip Experience, Tulip Barn and De Tulperij. At De Tulperij you need a ticket for the tulip fields; the show garden and the flower greenhouse are free.
