The most beautiful polders and lakes in Holland can be found on the east side of the Bollenstreek. This lake district also has the most windmills in the Netherlands.
With many small-scale farms you can also enjoy many fair regional products like the world-famous Dutch cheese.
The lakes and polders start immediately after the flower fields. They are mostly drained areas which used to be a water area. The lake area is one of the largest sailing areas in the Netherlands. The villages Warmond and the island De Kaag are the direct connection to the watery area.
