Blijdorp Zoo in the centre of Rotterdam is one of the most beautiful zoos in Europe. In the zoo of Rotterdam you can meet special animals from all over the world all year round. Besides seeing the many animals there are also several playgrounds for children in Blijdorp.
Discover the continents in Rotterdam
Zoo Blijdorp is arranged according to the continents. You will meet the animals that occur in each continent. For example, go on a voyage of discovery through Africa via a boardwalk across the savannah, where you come face-to-face with the magnificent giraffe. Meet Bokito the gorilla and his family.
Marvel at the Oceanarium
The oceanium is one of the top attractions in Blijdorp. In this indoor water world section, you take a journey across the seabed and along the coastal areas. See fast moving sharks and curious sea turtles and come face to face with playful sea lions, cute penguins, floating rays and thousands of fish.
Blijdorp Zoo for children
In addition to the animals, the zoo has great playgrounds for children.
Opening hours Blijdorp Zoo
The zoo in Rotterdam is open all year round. The opening hours depend on winter or summer time.
- Winter time – 09:00 – 17:00 hours
- Summertime – 09:00 – 18:00 hours
Exceptions to the opening hours On St. Nicholas Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, Blijdorp is open until 16:00 and on New Year’s Day it is open from 10:00.

Parking at Blijdorp
Blijdorp Zoo has its own car park (P1) in front of the main entrance (Blijdorplaan 8). Parking tickets (€ 9.50) are available at the ticket offices and ticket machines.
