Autumn is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the colours of the season! The Bollenstreek, the tulip and beach region between Amsterdam and The Hague, is wonderfully atmospheric now: golden dunes, colourful woods, fresh apples straight from the tree and plenty to do indoors when the weather turns. Here are our favourite autumn days out in and around the Bollenstreek.

New: Pokémon hunt at Space Expo
Pokémon is coming to Space Expo in Noordwijk! From 3 to 31 October 2026, children up to 12 search for ten hidden Pikachu figures among real space objects. Pick up a search card at the desk; find all the Pikachus and you win a small prize. From 4 October you can also play Pokémon GO in the museum and encounter Astronaut Pikachu. The hunt is included in a regular admission ticket.
Extra during the Dutch autumn school holidays: from 10 to 24 October, young explorers solve a space mystery in the interactive game Asteroid Detectives. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00. Read all about the Pokémon hunt and book your tickets.
Theme parks and museums with a discount
In autumn, many museums and theme parks put on extra activities for children, often with special offers. Here are some fun and educational days out with a discount:
- Autumn is a great time to visit Duinrell theme park. Enjoy the rides and take a dip in the tropical Tikibad swimming paradise. Extra fun: from 10 October to 8 November, Dino Discovery brings more than twenty life-size, moving dinosaurs to the park, with a trail and a fossil dig.
- Travel back in time at Archeon. During the autumn school holidays there are lots of extra activities in this historical theme park, from archery to Roman legion drills.
- Visit Madurodam with a discount and take a flight over the Netherlands on The Flying Dutchman, or take fun selfies among life-size artworks in the indoor attraction The Dutch Masters.
- At the Corpus museum you go on a unique journey through the human body, learning about health and nutrition in a playful way.

Autumn walks through colourful nature
Autumn is the ideal season for a relaxing walk. The glorious autumn colours and countless mushrooms turn every walk into a voyage of discovery. Great places for an autumn walk include the dunes along the coast and the historic estates around Warmond.
Pick apples and pears at the Olmenhorst
Just outside Lisse lies the large apple and pear orchard of the Olmenhorst estate. This year the pick-your-own season runs until 25 October. From 10 to 25 October you can go every day from 10:00 to 17:00; at weekends, book a parking space in advance via the Olmenhorst website. Tip: wear boots and don’t forget to bring a (big) bag for all those delicious apples and pears!
Indoor playgrounds for rainy days
The Bollenstreek has two indoor playgrounds: Kidszoo in Noordwijkerhout and Monkey Town in Warmond. Ideal for a rainy autumn day with young children. Also fun is Peppa Pig World of Play in Leidschendam: an indoor playground themed around the cheerful pig Peppa and her friends.
Go to a film or a show
There are several cinemas in the Bollenstreek, such as cinema Floralis in Lisse, which regularly screens (children’s) films; note that children’s films are usually dubbed in Dutch. At De Muze in Noordwijk you can catch various theatre performances in autumn.
Go bowling on a rainy day
Bowling is fun for young and old. At All American Bowling in Noordwijkerhout you can bowl a strike together, even when it’s raining outside. A great outing for the whole family!
